I grew up next to an orange and grapefruit grove, and Arizona wouldn't let outside citrus to be shipped in.  We were sheltered.

They never used to be available in the US - until some sort of drought or flood or other traumatic crop situation and there were no oranges for the Americans - so they started shipping them in to fill the void.

i can't eat the whole crate of them either, but i buy them, and then eat as many clementines as i can stand, and then juice the rest and have an enormously decadent breakfast drink. i mean - clementine juice is the deal.

I got a fondue pot from my parents for Christmas.  It's shaped like a Hershey kiss- so I'm going to put chocolate in it.  Then I'm going to dip clementine sections into the chocolate.
