Kicks ass, although not as much as Casino Royale.

Theme song blows though.  Jack White is highly overrated.  bleah.  I'm wondering what it would have been if Amy Winehouse had been able to do it.  As it is, the female voice is Alicia Keys.  meh.

I've read the Ian Fleming story "Quantum of Solace" and it has absolutely nothing to do with the story in this movie except that both have a character named James Bond.

No matter- this is a decent story, decent yet kind of creepy bug eyed bad guy, decent girl sidekick.

I really REALLY like the relationship they're building between M and Bond in these films.  Much more a mutual, occasionally grudging respect, but trust, and almost a protective thing going on.  Kind of like the books, which delve much more into the relationship than the movies have thus far.

This is the only Bond movie that's made me cry.  Just FYI.
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?

I've had many occasions where I've seen a preview for a film where I still have no idea what the film was about (see below).  But I don't often have that after having watched the whole film.  I did today.

The plot, if you could call it that, was all over the place.  The action was non-stop but so many people were getting killed and I was barely able to figure out why or if they even fit the main narrative.  The new Bond girl was pretty good though her character arch is pretty thin-as usual for a Bond girl.

Daniel Craig is still my favorite Bond so far, he's just an incredibly athletic actor.  The scenery was exceptional at times but overall, this film seriously underwhelms.

It's a B- in my opinion.  And Dazie was right, the theme song is Suck-rific.

The upside was several good previews including:

-Star Trek looks VERY promising with its new trailer.  It seems to be going in very new directions with characters.

-The Day the Earth Stood Still gets me very excited.  I liked the original and I'm very curious as to what they intend to do with this one

-Valkyrie looks really interesting.  If I'm understanding the trailer correctly, this is the story of a German assassination attempt of Adolf Hitler while he was still in power.  I've seen a couple documentaries on this event and a movie about it seems pretty cool.  The period quality of it looks exceptional and the cast is loaded with cameos.

-then there's a Will Smith movie called 7 Pounds that they ran twice, and after watching it both times, I have no clue what the film is about.

You must have had the same preview disk I did, I saw that Will Smith thing twice too.

Although we didn't have "The Day the Earth Stood Still"  We had the Watchmen.    :)

There was a much higher body count in this one.  And I couldn't keep track either, especially when Bond was chasing the guy in Siena, they were both dressed nearly the same so I had a hard time telling who was who.

Oh- a bit of a side note- that horse race they showed is real, has been run for hundreds of years.  The riders are unimportant, it's the horse that has to make it across the finish line, and must still have that thingy attached to its head.

VJ- what did you think about the Bond/M thing?

loved the movie, loved the theme song.

I like the song.  Or I did before they started playing it every other song.  I've not seen the movie (surprising, I know).

It was an interesting step in their dynamic.  I'm curious as to how they'll extend it in the next film.
