This looks really good- has anyone heard any first hand information?
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?

cnamon

No, but I really would like to see it.

Buzz is good.  Supposedly a solid effort by all.

It opens around here on the 21st.  I'm hoping the local art house carries it so I don't have to go into KC to see it.

they used actual mccarthy footage, and test audiences thought the actor was trying too hard.  :)

and i heard it's supposed to be very good.

As I said in the Syriana thread, my admiration for the man goes nowhere but up.

Beefy

It is a bracing, intelligent, and important film that deserves to be shown in every journalism class across the country.  It treats the issues and people openly and honestly.  David Strathairn deserves at least an Oscar nod, if not the win.  And yes, it is a spookily appropriate time to be making and releasing this film.  Kudos to Clooney and Hestov for tackling it with class and resonance.

Very highly recommended.

How about the Readers' Digest version?  I'm used to eo000's reviews.

Double what Beef said.

My exact reaction was, "if it doesn't stir your heart, you don't have a heart to stir!"

What an exceptionally powerful film!  It will quickly go into my library of films that inspire me to strive for greatness in character against whatever odds stand in the way.  In several ways, it reminds me of what is best in the American spirit of 'justice being done though thy heavens fall.'

Two Thumbs WAY UP!
