So, how is Leia a princess, but Luke lives on a farm? Is Amidala not their mother?

Amidala is their mom.  The twins are separated and hidden from Anakin/Vader immediately after Amidala dies.  Leia goes to Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) and Luke goes to his Aunt and Uncle.
