I've heard that they're going to wake up in bed next to Suzanne Pleshette saying "Honey, you won't believe the dream I just had...."  At least it's not about that inn in Vermont this time.  

The alternate ending is that it's all been a part of the new Sutter Cane novel.  The manuscript has been delivered and published, so it's too late.  The movie version is about to hit theaters.

Jacob appears to command a great respect among the Others who look to him as a leader who is both admired and feared. Both Mikhail and Ben referred to Jacob as a "great", "brilliant" and "magnificent" man. Jacob has also been referred to as "powerful" and "unforgiving." ("Two for the Road")
