I made pizza dough tonight- from scratch.
Not bad if I do say so myself, I'd never made it before. I took a few liberties with the recipe, and I think it turned out well.
Ursus brought stuff from the salad bar to put on top. yum.
Thin or thick crust? Did you bake the crust before putting the toppings on? Do you like a lot of sauce or a thin layer of sauce?
Thin crust, with oregano mixed in. One crust was white flour and oat flour, the other crust was white flour, oat flour and semolina.
I didn't prebake, they were too thin. The two batches of dough I made turned out 4 10" pizzas.
I like a thin smear of sauce with lots of toppings. (Unless I can get my hands on some good greasy NYC style 'zza)
yuumy. I'm comin' to your house. I made bread today.
I made these today. Yum!

Those look really good.
I just can't seem to get the hang of making Christmas cookies now that I have my own kitchen. It was always much easier in my mom's kitchen.
Probably because she didn't have a bunch of crap laying around.
All the kids are coming over Sunday to make cookies at my apartment. It's going to be insane. Me, five kids, and two other adults in my tiny little apartment and even tinier kitchen.
I figure I'll sit the kids around the kitchen table with all the ingredients and bowls and whatnot and let them go at making the dough, and I'll do the baking part.
It should be fun.
Any cookie suggestions? I'm thinking the chocolate crinkles we made yesterday, snickerdoodles, chocolate chip, and peanut butter.
I wanted to make some sort of cookie bars or brownie bars or something, but I don't know.
You know what's really fun and easy for kids? Get those circle pretzels and put a Hershey's Kiss in the middle and bake.

Someone on fark yesterday suggested doing that with a Rolo and a pecan on top.
How good does THAT sound?
Oh, I just found out from Kate the best way to do that.
Put the pretzels on waxed paper and put them in the oven. Then take it out and immediately put the Hershey's Kisses in and they'll melt. But if you put the kisses in the oven, they melt too much, leak out, and burn. So there's that.
Make People Chow. My kids love it.
What is people chow?
You should make the cookies that my grandma makes. They're incredible. I don't know the recipe, though.

Oh. I've had something similar to people chow. Only it was corn flakes.

We do it with Chex. But we call it puppy chow.

I am expecting 3 packages in the next couple of days. One of them came at lunch today, so I didn't get it. BOO.

My parents somehow blew the main gear on the Kitchen Aid that they got in the 80's. Somehow I thought that these things were supposed to be bulletproof...

I am expecting three packages in the mail. The postperson attempted to deliver one today, but we were out of the office for lunch, so I did not receive it yet. I will have to pick it up at the post office tomorrow.

Ohhh, gotcha. I didn't realize they wouldn't leave a package in your office. I take it you don't make the receptionist stay behind. We used to do that at my old job... always felt badly for her.
Postperson. How PC.

Did they shoot it?
No?
Then you still have no reason not to think they're bulletproof.
We have one (the next model down, it doesn't have the things on the sides of the bowl) in red. Erica loves that damn thing. It weighs more than the dog.

by "bulletproof" i meant indestructible BIOCH! I have heard tell that these things are passed down in wills.
The pouring shields are kind of a pain. Especially if you have to scrape the sides of the bowl. In fact, the models that have the bowl that is elevated can be tricky to scrape... but I would love to have one...

Mixie was $200 on Amazon, after $50 rebate. There are the same models in other colors for more than $250, but they are closing out Licorice and Merengue. I had to bite on this deal. Normally, this would be $499.
I'm eating pizza right now. I didn't make it.
Just FYI.
Who made it and what are the toppings?
Papa John made it. There's pepperoni, sausage, black olives and onions.
Did you get garlic butter dipping sauce for the crust?

I got one for my wife last year. Hers is the Cinnamon Accolade with the 400 watt motor. Do they even make Accolade mixers any more? I don't know. But she really likes it a lot. Uses it all the time.
It's heavy though. It would kill you if it fell on you.

Sooooo true.
Where were we talking about my casino thing?
Remember when I was bitching that we were just getting lunch?
We ended up going out to a hibachi place for a fantastic and fun lunch, then the boss decided to take us to the casino. He rented a luxury bus for us (like a giant limo). We all got smashed on the way to the casino and he gave us $100 to gamble with. He also gave us more money when we were there if we ran out. I ended up with $150 of his money that I quickly turned into $31.
On the way home he was doing the robot in the aisle of the bus, booty popping, some sort of slow mo dancing, and challenging people to dance offs.
Sometimes I really really love my job.
YOU ARE IN HR!!!
I forgot to say he also bought us all dinner at the casino.
That's the most fun I've had in a very long time, and the longest I've been able to forget my troubles since they began. I really needed it.
Excellent. :) I'm glad you had that chance.
What did you play? Slots? Blackjack? Poker?
I lost $50 in the slots after about 20 minutes. Then I played Roulette, which is way more fun and lasts a lot longer. I still lost most of my money, though. I had fun.
I was too scared to play cards. I was going to play blackjack, but the tables were $10 minimum, which is too rich for me.
Very, very sleepy now.
the last time I played blackjack was when I was in Grad school at the CBDNA conferrence in Reno. I played for about an hour and came out even. Not to bad...
